Three New Roles

To accommodate the diverse needs of modern organizations, we’ve introduced three distinct user roles within Filestack: Account Owner, Developer, and Billing.

Account Owner

The Account Owner serves as the primary administrator with full control over the Filestack environment. They can:

  • Manage team members through the new User Management interface
  • Control API key assignments
  • Access and manage all features and applications
  • Update company settings and user information

Before inviting team members, Account Owners need to complete their profile by adding their Company Name and Full Name in Account Settings.

Developer

Developers get access to the tools they need for implementation and management:

  • Access to their assigned API keys
  • Configuration settings
  • Storage integrations
  • Security controls
  • Workflows
  • Analytics
  • Content Browser

Each Developer must have at least one API key assigned to them, ensuring they have the necessary resources to work effectively.

Billing

Billing users focus on financial management with access to:

  • Account section
  • Billing information
  • Marketplace
  • Plans

A Refreshed Interface for Intuitive Management

We’ve redesigned our interface to enhance usability:

  • “My Apps” is now “Team Apps” for better collaboration
  • “Your Account” is now “Account”
  • “Invoices” is now “Billing”
  • A new User Management section for Account Owners
  • Simplified navigation with clear role-based access
  • Expandable tables showing detailed user and API key information

User Management

Account Owners can now manage their team through a comprehensive dashboard that offers:

  • User search and filtering capabilities
  • Role assignment and modification
  • API key management
  • Access control (invite, update, revoke, reinstate)
    • Invite
    • Remove
  • Activity tracking

Status Monitoring

Each team member’s status is clearly visible in the management interface:

  • Active: Currently has access to the account
  • Inactive: Access has been revoked
  • Pending: Invited but hasn’t yet joined

API Key Management

The new system introduces clear API key controls:

  • Account Owners can assign API keys to multiple Developers
  • Developers must have at least one API key assigned
  • When changing a Billing user to a Developer role, API keys must be assigned
  • Billing users have visibility of all API keys for financial oversight

Security First Approach

We’ve implemented robust security measures to protect your organization:

  • Immediate session termination upon access revocation
  • Clear user notifications for status changes
  • Secure invitation and onboarding process
  • Role-specific access controls

Multi-Account Support

  • Users receive an email invitation with clear instructions
  • After verification, they can access their team account
  • Clear visual indicators show their role and permissions

Browser Support

The team management interface supports:

  • Chrome (recent versions)
  • Safari (latest version on Mac and iOS)
