What:
San Antonio Artificial Intelligence Meetup
When:
Wednesday, February 21st, 2018
Where:
Filestack, 122 Houston Street, San Antonio, TX 78205
Filestack is proud to host San Antonio’s new artificial intelligence meetup, a monthly event where local tech communities can gather to discuss, learn and present on various topics related to machine learning and artificial intelligence. As the interest and adoption in intelligent technology grows, so too will the need for spaces facilitating exploration and curiosity, as well as industry leaders who can guide the direction of this new and exciting field. We are hoping to get a powerful discussion going in San Antonio on the past, present and future of machine learning.
Introductions
At the end of last month, we held our first meeting. Introductions were made and we had two short presentations on machine learning in production and generative adversarial networks. If you missed it, you can view the slides here.
Reinforcement Learning and Evolutionary Strategies
In our next meeting, hosted at Filestack on Wednesday, February 21st, at 6:00 pm, we will be looking into reinforcement learning and evolutionary strategies, an exciting field that has been gathering speed in the ML community. It has been used in projects like AlphaGo and advanced robotics to reach human-like levels in behavioral computation. We will discuss the benefits of using reward-based learning to teach computers and robots how to explore their environment, how it differs from traditional machine learning, and how it’s influenced by nature. We will also then have a live demonstration of this technology, using a reinforcement learning algorithm to teach a computer how to play Atari games using the OpenAI gym.
We will be serving pizza, beer and soda, and hope to see you there!
