Heroku to Filestack Migration: Your Comprehensive Guide

Developers, take note! A significant update is coming for those using Filestack on Heroku. After December 4th, 2023, Heroku will no longer support the Filestack add-on. But don’t worry, you can still use Filestack by migrating your account directly to them before December 3rd, 2023. This move is essential to keeping your API key and access to your files.

A few questions about the transition

1. What is happening with Filestack on Heroku?

Heroku is discontinuing Filestack’s add-on service as of December 4th, 2023. Continued use of Filestack requires customers to migrate to Filestack from Heroku by December 3rd, 2023. This will ensure continued access to your API key, assets, and other functionalities.

2. How do I start the migration process?

Initiate the migration by contacting support@filestack.com. Please state that you are interested in migrating your account from Heroku and please include your API key. Support team will guide you through the process and coordinate the necessary changes.

3. Can I keep my existing Filestack API key?

Yes, as part of the migration, customers will be able to retain their existing API keys for a seamless transition.

4. Will there be any downtime during migration?

We do not expect any downtime during the migration from Heroku to Filestack.

5. Do I need to make changes to my application’s code?

If you have implemented Filestack directly per the example in the following link, we do not anticipate that you will need to make application code changes.

If you have implemented Filestack using different steps, you will need to make code changes. We recommend having a look at https://www.filestack.com/docs/uploads/pickers/web/ and then contacting support with any questions you may have.

6. Will my existing stored data and assets be affected?

The migration process is designed to ensure that all your stored data and assets on Filestack are preserved and remain accessible post-migration.

7. Is there a cost associated with this migration?

Migration support from Filestack on Heroku to direct Filestack usage is provided at no additional charge. Filestack usage charges and plan overage charges apply.
